Texfact of the week: world production of cotton remains stable
As the the International Cotton Advisory Committee reports, world cotton production remains stable with short over 25 million tonnes in 2014, roughly the same as in 2013, but less than in 2012. China’s consumption has decreased since 2012 and is expected to fall further in 2014/2015. In addition, world ending stocks will likely continue to increase with Chinese ending stocks having risen considerably in the last year. In contrast, U.S. ending stocks have been the lowest in three seasons. The full press release can be viewed here.
