Texfact of the week: Increase of clothing & textile imports in the EU

European imports of clothing increased by 6% to 18 billion euros during the first quarter of 2014, while European imports of textile products (yarns, fabrics, household linens, accessories etc.) grew by 8% in the same period of time. As Messe Frankfurt France further reports, China and Turkey are consolidating their positions which China being the main supplier of clothing to the EU. There is rapid growth in exports from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Vietnam and Cambodia. Growth in European clothing and textile exports has slowed down to 3% but shows good results in exports to the United States, China and Switzerland.
