Lots of little ‘baby carpets’
What initially looks like a colourful bouquet of brushes are, in fact, rows of polyester yarns. You could say, that’s what a carpet looks like before it becomes a carpet. The different coloured yarns are made by the Turkish KORTEKS company that, as one of the country’s biggest yarn exporters, produces around 350 tonnes of such ‘baby carpets’ every day. From the Turkish town of Bursa, the textured yarn is shipped to Portugal, Hungary, Italy, Brazil, Israel, England and the USA – in a nutshell: all over the world – where the ‘little ones’ are turned into renowned carpets of all kinds.
